In some cases, animals that you save will also come to your aid. When one man’s adoptive dogs came to his rescue, he learned this lesson.
Two pit bulls were discovered in a neighborhood shelter by Robert McGowan. The dogs had a difficult existence and were abandoned, according to The Dodo.
That’s hardly unexpected considering that pit bulls are the most prevalent breed of dog to be found in shelters and their bad reputation for aggression deters many from adopting them.
However, Robert took in the abandoned dogs, adopted them, and gave them the names Ellabelle and Ladybug.
The pit bulls turned out to be sweet, amiable dogs when he provided them with a loving home.
However, a recent incident allowed the dogs to show their true selves.
Robert was in his garage one night when four men suddenly attacked him. They gave him a black eye after punching him, and they wanted to steal his car.
When they requested the keys, Robert told them that they were inside. They had no idea what more they would uncover within.
The two pit dogs suddenly charged to protect their owner, barking and scaring the attackers away.
Robert told The Dodo that “They chased them out. My girls ran into the garage and stood over me.”
“They stood there barking, making it clear that no one was going to hurt me anymore. The four people took off.”
Despite the breed’s reputation for aggression, Robert claims that the dogs are actually calm and non-aggressive. However, they won’t think twice to defend their loved ones if they feel endangered.
